(9) Water meters must be installed on all holding tank systems. <br /> 1601.410. WATLR METER S1;T'I'INCI. ALI water meters hereafter installed shall be in <br /> <br /> accordance with the following altles: <br /> (1) 'T'he service pipe from Chc water main to the meter, when the same enters the <br /> building, shall he brought through the floor or bottom course of concrete block of <br /> foundation. <br /> (2) The meter shall be located so that the bottom is from 12 inches to 24 inches <br /> above the finished floor line. Any deviation front the above installation heights <br /> shall be approved in advance Uy_the Public Works Department. <br /> (3) All meter installations shall have a stop and waste gate ball valve on the street <br /> side of the meter. In no case shall there be more than 12 inches of pipe exposed <br /> between the point of entrance through the basement floor and the stop and waste <br /> valve. A stop and waste gate ball valve shall also be installed on the house side <br /> of the meter. A11 fittings ar~d pipe to be red brass, or bronze. Cate B~II valves <br /> shall he brass 125 pounds standard. <br /> 1601.420. USR OI' PIRE HYDRAN'T'S. No person other Chan authorized City <br /> employees shall operate fire hydrants or interfere in any way with the water system without first <br /> obtaining a permit to do so from the City as follows: <br /> Permit to use a Ere hydrant shall be issued for each individual job or contract and <br /> for a minimum of thirty (30) days and for such additional thirty (30) day periods <br /> as the City shall determine. `fhe permit shall state the location of the hydrant and <br /> shall be for the use of that hydrant and none other. <br /> (2) The user shall make an advance cash deposit in an aurouut established by City <br /> Council resohtion to guarantee payment for water used and to cover breakage <br /> and damages to hydrant, which shall be refunded upon expiration of the permit, <br /> less applicable ehaiā¢ges for use. <br /> (3) The user shall pay a rental charge as established by City Council resolution for <br /> each thirty (30) day period or fraction thereof, and a charge as established by <br /> City Council resolution for each 1,000 gallons oi'water used. <br /> 1601.421. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OP PRIVATE FIRE HYDRANTS. <br /> Private water hydrants, as well as public water hydrants, shall be maintained and repaired by the <br /> Little Canada Public Works Department to ensure their operation as parC of the community's fire <br /> protection system. 'the Public Works Department of the City is hereby granted access to any <br /> and all private fire hydrants within the City that are connected to the municipal water system <br /> irrespective of the availability of a dedicated access point.
