MINUTES CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 11, 2010 APPROVAL OF THE VOUCHERS; *AWARD OF 2010 SEAL COATING QUOTE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT; *APPROVAL OF FINAL PAYMENT TO SUNRAM CONSTRUCTION FOR THE LITTLE CANADA BRIDGE RAIL REPLACEMENT PROJECT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ENGINEER; *APPROVAL OF PARTIAL PAYESTIMATE #2 TO HARDRIVES, INC. FOR 2010 STREET & UTILITY IMPROVMENTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ENGINEER; *APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER #2 FOR 2010 STREET & UTILITY IMPROVEMENTSAS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ENGINEER; The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. Ayes (4). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. AWARD B1D- The City Administrator reported that bids were opened at 11:00 a.m. today NE UTILITY for the installation of sanitary sewer to serve the Gervais Woods IMP., Development and the installation of water main along County Road B-2 PARK STREET, and Park Street. Eight bids were received ranging from $126,575.00 to COUNTY $210,016.35. The Engineer's estimate was $131,000.00. ROAD B-2 The City Adminishator reported that the City Engineer has been very aggressive in his estimating, and noted that the low bid is still $4,000 under that estimate. The Administrator pointed out that the competitive bidding climate continues, but indicated that he and the City Engineer do not think that will be the case much longer. The Administrator reported that the low bid was from Metro Utilities. This company has not done work in the City in the past. The Engineer has checked their references and finds that they have successfully completed work in other cities in the metro area. The Administrator noted that the County Road B-2 and Park Street water main work is being installed at the request of the Terrace 1leights Mobile home Park and is to be paid 100% by the Park. Therefore, bid award should be contingent upon their signing a Waiver of Right to Appeal Special Assessment. 2
