Fahey suggested intense color plants to add vibrant colors <br /> to the park. Morelan said they would be planted next May along with the other planters in <br /> the city. <br /> OTHER Morelan distributed the fall youth program flyers which includes the after school basketball, <br /> soccer pre-league, soccer league, soccer clinic and volleyball league. Registration for these <br /> programs will conclude the end of August with programs starting in September. <br /> Morelan commented on the Firearm Safety program where three DNR certified volunteers <br /> teach the class. Kevin Steinert is one of the instructors. The program will be put on the <br /> DNR website as there are a few spots still available. The classes are held at the Old Fire <br /> Hall with the last day at the Bald Eagle Range where the students will learn how to carry the <br /> gun and will do some shooting. <br /> Morelan also distributed the next program registration sheets for the basketball acrd fall <br /> gymnastics, acrobatics and tumbling programs. These programs will also star•C this fall. <br /> The Market Place Morning Talks flyer was also distributed announcing the Wednesday, <br /> August 11 program "Identity Theft and Home Safety", with speaker Barb Russo from the <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff's office. <br /> Morelan reported the LCI2A will be hosting an Coach's Appreciation Ni~ht for all the <br /> coaches of the summer programs who volunteer their time on August 19" at Spooner Park. <br /> Morelan stated they have been doing this for about 20 years, thanking the coaches for their <br /> time. The coaches, assistant coaches and L,CRA members are invited and they also give <br /> away door prizes. <br /> Sullivan asked if the basketball court will be completed this fall in the ThunderBay Parlc. <br /> Morelan stated he attended a city budget meeting a~~d reported the pouring of the asphalt for <br /> the court will be combined with other asphaltjobs for the city. It is tentatively planned for <br /> completion in the spring of 2011. Morelan stated the city engineer has some concerns also <br /> with the drainage in this park. Sullivan commented that there is also a drainage problem on <br /> the trail in the northwest side of Pioneer Park. Morelan stated he is aware of this problem <br /> and it will be addressed also. Sullivan requested that Morelan contact the group who <br /> requested the basketball court to advise them of the scheduled timing for the completion of <br /> the basketball court. Morelan said he would contact the school once the school year begins. <br /> Sanders said there is a project widerway to replace the missing and damaged directional signs <br /> for Spooner and Pioneer Parks. These signs assist people who are driving to the ball fields <br /> for games. The signs will be redone in a dark green color with larger lettering. The current <br /> signs will be replaced and additional signage will also be placed along Desoto/Labore and <br /> Centerville/Labore areas.
