MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 25, 2010
Haugdahl reported that he understands the City's concerns, but noted that
PreWire will be good for the community and they will be making a
significant investment in the property.
T'he City Administrator noted the City's efforts to work with property
owners in the Country Drive area allowing the conversion ofsingle-family
homes into commercial uses pending redevelopment of the area. He noted
that the City entered into a development agreement with these property
owners, and suggested that the same occur with PreWire. Parameters can
be spelled out in the development agreement that will govern future
redevelopment of this area. He also pointed out that PreWire will have to
comply with the recommendations of the City Engineer.
McGraw noted that no architectural drawings have been submitted. He
was concerned with granting an approval this evening given the number of
conditions that would have to be attached. The City Planner pointed out
that there are additional issues such as signage that need to be addressed.
It was suggested that action on this matter be tabled until the next Council
meeting.
Haugdahl reported that they have a very short timeframe to work with
listing the various items that still need to be addressed such as title work,
environmental assessments, etc. He suggested that tabling until the next
Council meeting would work assuming that the Council is supportive of
the proposal.
McGraw asked what will happen with the semitrailers that are currently
parked on the property. Haugdahl reported that they will be removed.
McGraw suggested that PreWire sit down with the City Administrator and
work out the details of the development agreement. This should give
Haugdahl a pretty good listing of the items that will need to be addressed
to the City's satisfaction. McGraw noted that the City's interest is in
protecting the redevelopment potential for this area.
Tim Roach, Chamber of Commerce, indicated his support for PreWire.
Montour asked if architectural review of this proposal was necessary. The
City Planner indicated that it was.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2010-8-194 -CONTINUING THE PUBLIC
HEARING ON THE APPLICATION FOR PUD PERMIT FOR A
TECHNOLOGY SERVICE CONTRACTOR AT 2948 RICE STREET
IS
