MINUTIJS
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 25, 2010
that most employees take their work vehicles home, approximately 50 of
the 72 employees. Only a few employees that live significant distances
from work do not. Haugdahl also noted that the easement pavement is in
very poor condition, and they would improve those access points.
McGraw asked if this location was large enough for the company.
Haugdahl replied that it was. He also indicated that if there was a
problem, the company can change its operation to a shift schedule to
stagger numbers of employees coming to the site at any given time.
Haugdahl reported that they looked at over 60 buildings, and this property
works for them. He indicated that the company currently operates from a
9,000 square foot building, and this one is 12,000 square feet. Haugdahl
reported that the company is as big as it is going to get because they do an
excellent job at the size they are. Iaugdahl indicated that PreWire was
not interested in getting larger at the expense of the quality of work that
they do. Haugdahl reported that he is from a small community, and
PreWire wants to be a part of Little Canada and contribute to the
community.
McGraw felt that PreWire would be a great company to have in Little
Canada, and commended them for their presentation. McGraw noted that
the City Engineer will need additional information to complete his review
of the proposal. He also asked about the cold storage building that is
being proposed.
Haugdahl reported that the cold storage building is a concept at this point.
If the City is opposed to that building, Haugdahl indicated that they could
operate without it. He also indicated that they did consider storm water
management in the drawings submitted. The City Administrator reported
that the City Engineer needs drainage calculations to complete his review.
Joe Raddick, engineer for PreWire, indicated that the amount of
disturbance will be .95 acres, therefore, a Watershed permit is not
required. The City Administrator noted that while an acre of disturbance
(riggers a Watershed permit, 20,000 square feet of disturbance triggers
compliance with City standards. Dibb reported that they will work with
the City Engineer and comply with his recommendations.
Blesener noted that the issue of redevelopment must be addressed. Keis
agreed, but questioned how the City can stop development proposals in
this area when it is not ready to move on redevelopment. Keis noted that

' redevelopment may not occur for the next 15 years.
14
