MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 20, 2010
materials and colors be complementary and are not required to match the
principal building exactly.
The next 'Coning Code amendment addresses the issue of freestanding
signs. The Planner noted that currently freestanding signs adjacent to a
freeway are allowed to be 30 feet in height regardless of building size.
Additionally, the Code allows freestanding signs on parcels within 600
feet of a freeway intersection to be 30 feet in height regardless of building
size. The amendment eliminates the 30 foot height for properties within
600 feet of a freeway intersection, and ties that maximum freestanding
sign height for those properties to building size.
The Planner reported that the next issue for review is an amendment to the
Municipal Code relative to dog enclosures. This amendment clarifies that
a dog enclosure is a covered shelter for dogs, commonly referred to as
"dog house". The amendment limits a property to one dog enclosure and
includes size limitations. A dog enclosure would be limited to no larger
than necessary to permit a dog to comfortably enter, turn around, and lie
down, and in no case could be greater than I S square feet in size and 4 feet
in height.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by Keis, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2010-9-226 -APPROVING ANAMENDMENT
TO THE ZONING CODE RELATIVE TO CHAPTER 903.020,
DEFINING GARDEN SHEDS, AND CHAPTER 903.110, RELATIVE
TO PYLON SIGN HEIGHT FOR PROPERTIES IN THE VICINITY
OF FREEWAY INTERSECTIONS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
CITY PLANNER IN HIS REPORT DATED SEPTEMBER 3, 2010
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Ms. Boss introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2010-9-227-APPROVING THEAMENDMENT
TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO THE DEFINITION OF
8
