Future Rice Street projects will also
include the addition of sidcwall<. The Pablic Works department already has 4-K hours of
sidewalk main[eutmce dcpenc9ing on the type and amount of snow that falls. Currently,
the'l~oolcat is used along with either the bucket attachment for small amounts of snow or
the blower attachment for large amounts of snow, The bucket attachment does not pivot
and is not curved so snow tends to pile up and over the bucket leaving snow behind to
clean up. A plow allows the operator to pivot the blade one way or another and it eau
push a greater amount of snow than a bucket.
Staff recou~lliends the purchase of a snow plow for the "foolcat to improve plowing
ePtioieucy on the expanding network of sidewalks. Tri-State 13obea[ iu l,ittlc Canada
quoted a price of X1479 (tax inch.lded) fora 72-inch wide plow for the Toolcat. Staff
would like to order the plow now so that it is available for the entire snow season. It is
not budgeted dais year but was planned for next year.
