MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
LITTLE CANAllA, MINNESOTA
November 4, 2010
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation
Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 4th day of November,
2010, in the council chambers of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in
said city.
Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of
the commission were present:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair
Ms. Ruth Steinwall
Ms. Patti Sullivan
Mr. Tom Maida
Mr. Dan Slain
Mr. Kevin Steinert
MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Katie Lolmaugh
ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant
Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary

MINUTES Maida made a motion to accept the minutes from the September 2, 2010 meeting, seconded
by Slain. Motion carried.
NEW
BUSINESS SPOONER PARK RE-GRADING REQUEST BY CANADIAN DAYS
Sanders said the Canadian Days committee has requested the Spooner Park land south of the
pavilion be graded by extending the rise to have a flatter area for the carnival for the
Canadian Days festival. Sanders stated this grading could be done without detracting from
the park and without degrading the appearance of the park's beauty.
There was a discussion as to how much area this would entail to be graded. Lynda
Beaudoin, Canadian Days board member, was in attendance and stated Joe Gillis, the
Canadian Days member who chairs the set-up committee, has made the request for the
grading. Beaudoin stated the car show event has expanded from previous years and is
requiring more land, not allowing the carnival area to expand.
Sullivan said many families rent Spooner Park throughout the summer and thought it would
benefit to have a larger flat play field area south of the pavilion.
