MINUTES

PLANNING COMMISSION

NOVEMBER 9, 2010
The Planner reported that the City Engineer is working with the property
owner on storm water management given the parking lot addition.
With regard to the Vroom business, the City Planner indicated that it is
classified as Minor Auto Repair, and the Vroom operation falls under the
City's definition of Minor Auto Repair. The Planner also reported that the
business meets the relevant conditions of the original CUP Permit issued
in 2000. The Planner reviewed the recommendations outlined in his
November 5, 2010 report pointing out that he has asked for final details
relative to the lighting plan for the property.
Dm•ay asked what addition will be used for. Plowman reported that there
will be two hoists and a tine storage area in the new addition. Plowman
reported that the building originally had a fire storage area, but given the
volume of business, Vroom replaced it with a hoist. Vroom will now
regain the fire storage area as part of the new addition.
Duray asked about building materials. Plowman reported that the same
materials will be used on the addition with the exception that a glass block
window area will be added above the overhead door to allow for some
natural light in the building. Duray asked about the number of doors.
Plowman pointed out that they will remain the same, there will be one
man-door and one over-head door on the east end of the building.
Duray asked about the parking lot relocation. Plowman reported that the
parking lot is being moved further east. All setbacks will be met. Some
storm sewer is being added at the recommendation of the City Engineer
with that storm sewer eventually directed into the holding pond to the
south.
Duray asked about lighting. Plowman reported that the existing building
lights will be relocated on the new addition. No new lighting is being
added. Plowman reported that he would submit a photometric at the time
that he applies for a building permit. Security cameras are being relocated
as well.
13ar•raclough indicated that Vroom is a good business in the City and he
was please to see they are successful and need to expand.
Fischer asked about signage. Plowman reported that the stop sign at the
corner of the building will be relocated to the new building corner. The
security camera signage will also be relocated. Otherwise, signage will
remain as is. The Planner noted that these signs are informational and
directional, therefore, do not require a separate permit.
-2-
