A resident mentioned that 807 Aspen Circle might not be sub dividable due to
some additions to the existing house. The City Administrator said the City would
look into the matter.
A resident asked what the window for driveway work to be completed would be
once the street work began. Mr. Elfering stated that on last year's project
residents were given two weeks to secure a contractor to perform the work and
then three weeks to have the work completed. He expected it would be a similar
timeframe on this project.
It was asked if the City could provide a list of contractors that could perform the
work. Mr. Elfering said the City could send out a list of qualified contractors.
He also recommended that residents consider pooling driveway work together for
a better price per driveway.
A resident asked if the project was a sure thing. Mr. Elfering replied that it was
not a sure thing and that this was just an informational meeting. The City
Administrator added that we don't want to let it go too long into the future to
avoid having to fully reconstruct it so at some point it will need to get done.
A resident commented that he didn't remember much patching in 23 years of
living on the street. Mr. Elfering said that the City hadn'rdone much patching
but that was a good thing in that it made it a prime candidate for a mill and
overlay project.
A resident requested that the City send out the informational packet to those not
in attendance. The City Adminstrator stated that the City would consider it but
added that the same packet would be distributed at the improvement hearing with
the City Council.
A resident asked how long the street could go if the work wasn't done this year.
Mr. Elfering responded that it depends on how the street holds up over the
coming winter and spring. He further stated that if the City didn't call the
neighborhood in next year they would certainly be called in for 2013. The City
Administrator added that there is a chance construction prices will go up as the
economy improves. He said the City could bid the project and see how the
prices look and then ask the neighborhood again what they think.
The City Administrator then asked if those present would be willing to take the
potential project to an improvement hearing with the Council. There was one "no"
vote and one resident was interested in taking it to the next level and getting bids.
There was no strong consensus He then explained the next steps in the process and
said the project will likely be thrown out if the bids are higher than the Engineer's
estimate.
The Aspen Circle property owners were thanked for their participation.
42
