MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
FEBRUARY 10, 2011
that he understood that in order to finalize his CUP Permit he will have to
get the landscaping done.
Murphy noted that there is a significant amount of snow stored in the area
where the landscaping is to be placed. Murphy asked how snow storage
would be handled once the landscaping is added. Kromroy pointed out
that snow would be pushed to the areas where he currently has his trailers
parked along the south edge of the parking lot. Given those trailers would
be moved into the outdoor storage area, this particular area could be used
for snow storage. The Planner noted that the type of plantings proposed
for the landscape area would be tolerant of a certain amount of snow.
Knudsen asked about fencing. Kromroy reported that an 8 -foot chain link
fence would be added around the new outdoor storage area. It was noted
that the outdoor storage only needs to be screened along the southern edge
facing Yorkton Court, and there is a wooden fence in place in that area.
Duray asked about fence height. The Planner reported that an 8 foot
height is acceptable for an Industrial District fence. It was noted that the
equipment to be stored within the outdoor storage area will not exceed
fence height. Knudsen asked if extending the fence would pose any
problems for the building to the east. Kromroy replied that it would not
and indicated that he and the property owner to the east have a good
working relationship. Knudsen asked if Kromroy has had vandalism
within his outdoor storage area. Kromroy replied that he has not.
Knudsen asked if Kromroy received the City Planner's report. Kromroy
replied that he had and would comply with all recommendations.
Duray noted the need for Fire Marshal review. The Planner indicated that
that would likely occur as part of the outdoor storage licensing.
Barraclough recommended approval of the Amendment to Conditional
Use Permit to increase the amount of outdoor storage area from 4,000
square feet to 6,000 square feet for AMR Properties, 2956 Yorkton Blvd.,
subject to compliance with the recommendations of the City Planner as
outlined in his report dated February 4, 2011.
Motion seconded by Duray.
Motion carried 6 0.
Barraelough recommended approval of the Variance to allow an expanded
outdoor storage area in the side yard at AMR Properties, 2956 Yorkton
Blvd., based on the findings of fact as outlined in the City Planner's report
dated February 4, 2011 which support the existence of a hardship.
-3-
