Hanson <br />www.ei.little-canada.mn.us <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />DATE: May 5, 2011 <br />RE: Liquor Ordinance Update <br />Attached are redlined copies of the proposed Liquor Ordinance updates which were <br />discussed at the Council's April 27, 2011 Workshop Meeting. Below is a summary of <br />the more significant changes proposed to the Ordinance. Most changes are merely <br />housekeeping in nature. <br />Chapter 701— Definitions <br />The definition of "On -Sale Intoxicating Liquor Premises" has been changed eliminating <br />language relating to dancing, singing, entertainment, etc. <br />The definition of "Temporary On -Sale Licenses" is change to reflect the ability under <br />State Law to issue these permits for four day periods. <br />Chapter 702 — 3.2 Percent Malt Liquor <br />Clarifying that Temporary On -Sale Licenses can be granted only to a club or charitable, <br />religious, or non - profit organization that has been in existence for at least three years. <br />Eliminating redundancy relative to liquor liability insurance requirements. <br />Eliminating the requirement for a "Dancing and Entertainment" license. <br />Simplifying the language relative to music. <br />Eliminating redundancy relative to gambling device prohibition. <br />1 <br />
