MINUTES <br />NEW <br />BUSINESS <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />May 5, 2011 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 5th day of May, 2011, <br />in the council room of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and the following members of <br />the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Dan Slain <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Ms. Katie Lolmaugh <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br />At 6:00 p.m. the P &R Commissioners, Sanders and Morelan met at Spooner Park with <br />members of the Canadian Days Committee and Couneilmember John Keis to discuss the <br />proposed regrading of some of the land south of the pavilion. The tour also included <br />looking at Rondeau Park and viewing Country Drive where it has been suggested to put a <br />pedestrian striping. <br />The minutes from the April 7, 2011, meeting were approved by Maida, seconded by <br />Steinwall. Motion carried. <br />PLANTING PLAN- UNWEAVE THE WEAVE- MN DOT <br />Morelan announced there would be a meeting with MN DOT next Tuesday evening at 7:00 <br />p.m. to discuss the planting of buffering trees along Highway 694 as part of the Unweave <br />the Weave project. He stated this project originally had $900,000 as a budget, but now it <br />has been cut to $500,000 for funding the plantings in the Little Canada and Vadnais Heights <br />area. Morelan encouraged any and all commissioners to attend this meeting if they were <br />available. <br />Chair Fahey asked why there was such a wide area on the 694 /Rice Street bridge that was <br />not being used. Morelan responded saying he thought the city's Public Works staff might <br />know the future intentions of that bridge area, even though it is not located within our city. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
