• All other undefined areas of the interior of the home must be clean and <br />sanitary by August 15, 2011. <br />• You are required to install carbon monoxide detectors as required by State <br />Statute 299F.50 which requires an approved carbon monoxide alarm meeting <br />U/L specifications within ten (10) feet of each room lawfully used for sleeping <br />purposes. <br />o You are required to install smoke alarms as required by the Minnesota State <br />Fire Code which states "A smoke alarm must be installed in each sleeping <br />room in addition to a point centrally located in the corridor or area providing <br />access to each separate sleeping area ". <br />• List exterior storage items. All exterior areas of the property need to be free <br />of debris by August 15, 2011. <br />Information: Livable area is defined as: bedrooms used for sleeping, living <br />rooms, family rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. <br />Storage rooms are defined as: bedrooms that are not used for sleeping, basements, <br />storage rooms and garages. <br />If any deadlines are missed, the City of Little Canada has the will proceed with a <br />court ordered abatement. <br />Definitions: Clean: a) Free from dirt, contamination, impurities, etc.; unsoiled; <br />unstained b) free from disease, infection. <br />Sanitary: Free from elements, such as filth or pathogens, that endangers health <br />Option 2 — City Abatement <br />• If cooperation is not achieved, the voluntary process is halted. <br />• You will have 10 (ten) days to remove all personal items after receipt of a <br />"Non- Compliance Notice" if voluntary compliance is not achieved as <br />specified in the agreement. Said notice will be provided to you and /or posted <br />on the front door of the home within 24 hours of inspection. <br />• Any items not removed will be disposed of at the City's discretion. <br />• A vendor will be hired to bring the property into compliance. <br />• City staff will be available during the cleaning process. <br />• Attorney's fees, hourly staff fees, filing fees and court fees will be assessed to <br />the property. <br />• Costs associated with the abatement will be assessed to the above property not <br />to exceed 10 years and at a 5.25% interest rate. <br />• Items will be removed by contractors by direction of the City of Little Canada. <br />• Items will NOT be sorted or moved to a storage facility. <br />• Work will continue until deemed complete by the City. <br />After the cleanup process it will be necessary for the building official to inspect the <br />property for structural integrity and compliance with applicable building codes. <br />
