• All other undefined areas of the interior of the home must be clean and sanitary by August 15, 2011. • You are required to install carbon monoxide detectors as required by State Statute 299F.50 which requires an approved carbon monoxide alarm meeting U/L specifications within ten (10) feet of each room lawfully used for sleeping purposes. o You are required to install smoke alarms as required by the Minnesota State Fire Code which states "A smoke alarm must be installed in each sleeping room in addition to a point centrally located in the corridor or area providing access to each separate sleeping area ". • List exterior storage items. All exterior areas of the property need to be free of debris by August 15, 2011. Information: Livable area is defined as: bedrooms used for sleeping, living rooms, family rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Storage rooms are defined as: bedrooms that are not used for sleeping, basements, storage rooms and garages. If any deadlines are missed, the City of Little Canada has the will proceed with a court ordered abatement. Definitions: Clean: a) Free from dirt, contamination, impurities, etc.; unsoiled; unstained b) free from disease, infection. Sanitary: Free from elements, such as filth or pathogens, that endangers health Option 2 — City Abatement • If cooperation is not achieved, the voluntary process is halted. • You will have 10 (ten) days to remove all personal items after receipt of a "Non- Compliance Notice" if voluntary compliance is not achieved as specified in the agreement. Said notice will be provided to you and /or posted on the front door of the home within 24 hours of inspection. • Any items not removed will be disposed of at the City's discretion. • A vendor will be hired to bring the property into compliance. • City staff will be available during the cleaning process. • Attorney's fees, hourly staff fees, filing fees and court fees will be assessed to the property. • Costs associated with the abatement will be assessed to the above property not to exceed 10 years and at a 5.25% interest rate. • Items will be removed by contractors by direction of the City of Little Canada. • Items will NOT be sorted or moved to a storage facility. • Work will continue until deemed complete by the City. After the cleanup process it will be necessary for the building official to inspect the property for structural integrity and compliance with applicable building codes.
