Hanson
The Metropolitan Council has sanitary sewer interceptor lines that run through Little
Canada. One of the interceptors runs from County Road D and Labore Road southwest
to Sunset Court and Edgerton Street where it flows into a lift station and is pumped into
another interceptor. The first interceptor mentioned used to convey a good portion of
Vadnais Heights' sewer flows. The Met Council has re- routed those flows into a new
interceptor along Highway 61 so the existing interceptor now only conveys flows from
Little Canada and a kw apartment buildings on the north side of County Road D in
Vadnais Heights. The Met Council would like to reconvey the interceptor and the lilt
station on Sunset Court to Little Canada since it is no longer a major interceptor in its
system. The Met Council re- routed an interceptor that crosses 694 near the Public Works
building as part of the Unweave the Weave project and part of that line will be
reconveyed to the City as part of this agreement as well. The improvements have been
completed on that portion of the pipe.
As part of this process the Met Council televised the entire length of the interceptor and
inspected all of the manholes. 'they reviewed the dvds and provided copies to the City to
review as well. Repairs to the system are necessary before it can be turned back, and
both parties agreed upon the scope of the repair project. A summary of the repairs
follows (see map attached for locations):
Replace lift station with Gorman -Rupp station to match other lift stations in
the City.
Numerous joint repairs where there is groundwater leaking into the pipe or
root intrusion. These repairs can be performed without excavation.
Some spot repairs where excavation will be required to repair significant pipe
and joint damage.
1
