City of Little Canada 2011 Special Archery Deer Hunt Rules 1. All hunters are selected through the Metro Bowhunters Resource Based (MBRB). 2. Hunts are conducted using sharpshooter status MBRB archers. 3. Deer hunt locations are limited to the areas identified on the provided maps. 4. 'There will be six hunt periods consisting of (6) three -day hunts: Sept 23 -25, Sept 30, Oct 1,2, Oct 28- 30, Nov 4 -6, Nov 18 -20 with Optional Dates of Dec 3,4,10,11. 5. Tree stands can be erected on the day before each hunt period with times being determined by Hunt Coordinator. NO HUNTING on stand set up days. 6. Stands should be discretely placed so as not to be visible from residential structures in the area or from public road right -of -way. 7. Hunters must follow all MN DNR laws and all MBRB special rules. 8. All hunt periods are for either sex deer with the emphasis on shooting antlerless deer. A minimum of one bonus tag must be on hunters at all times. 9. Hunters must carry a hunt authorization letter from the City at all times during the hunt. 10. Hunt areas are closed to the public for the purpose of safety during the hunt. 11. All incidents of trespass or unknown tree stands should be reported to the MBRB Hunt Coordinator who will contact the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. 12. Archers will hunt from elevated stands. Ground blinds may be used in special cases but must be approved by Hunt Coordinator who will assist in blind location. 13. Screw -in tree steps are prohibited. Archers must utilize strap -on steps, ladders, climbing sticks, or climber stands for vertical access to their stands. 14. Hunters must have a flashlight and a warning whistle within easy reach during entry, egress, and while on stand. A cell phone is recommended. 15. All hunters must use a five -point fall restraint harness while on stand. It is also highly recommended to utilize a fall restraint system during ascending and descending access operations. 1.6. Only TMA approved stands /steps are acceptable. Use of any homemade stands /steps is prohibited for safety reasons. 17. Only buckthorn can be cut for shooting lanes. Cutting should be flush with the ground. Trimming for shooting lanes should be minimized so that stand locations are not readily apparent. 18. Archers must park in designated areas only and have a City supplied parking permit properly displayed. 3
