Ranson
www.alittle-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
DATE: February 7, 2008
RE: Realignment of Precinct Boundaries
The number of Little Canada registered voters has been on the increase over the past few
years. The most notable increase has been occurring in Precinct 3. The voting location
for Precinct 3 is the Little Canada City Center, which is the most limited in terms of
handling large numbers of voters. Therefore, staff is recommending that the boundary
between Precinct 1 and Precinct 3 be moved from County Road C to Little Canada Road.
This will increase the size of Precinct 1 by 400 voters, thus decreasing the size of
Precinct 3 by the same number. The Precinct 1 voting location is the Roseville Area
Middle School which has the physical capabilities of handling these additional voters.
For your information 1 have attached maps of our current precinct boundaries as well as
the proposed revised boundaries. Below are the number of registered voters in each
precinct as currently exist and as proposed.
Current Precinct Sizes:
Precinct 1 (Roseville Area Middle School) - 1,580
Precinct 2 (LC Elementary School) - 2,181
Precinct 3 (LC City Center) - 2,246
Proposed Precinct Sizes:
Precinct 1 (Roseville Area Middle School) - 2,080
Precinct 2 (LC Elementary School) - 2,181
Precinct 3 (LC City Center) - 1,746
It should be noted that Little Canada has historically had a very high percentage of voter
turnout. Ramsey County is anticipating that voter turnout for the 2008 Elections will be
unprecedented. Therefore, in addition to increasing the number of election judges to
1
