handle the process as efficiently as possible, staff is requesting approval of the proposed <br />precinct alignment to best utilize our precinct physical space. <br />One other precinct boundary change that was recommended by the Ramsey County <br />Election Department is that the northern boundary of Precinct 3 on the west side of the <br />freeway coincide with the School District boundary between Districts #624 and #621. <br />This moves the line south to approximately line up with County Road D. There are no <br />voters that will be impacted by this particular change. <br />Once the 2010 Census is completed, there may be future precinct changes recommended <br />by staff. One of these recommendations may include the addition of a fourth voting <br />precinct. (This would involve the purchase of additional voting equipment.) The current <br />number of registered voters warrants a fourth precinct. However, two reasons to delay <br />the addition of the fourth precinct at this time are the results of the Census and any <br />impact on legislative districts as well as the County's desire to upgrade voting equipment <br />in the next few years. <br />Staff requests approval of the change in precinct boundaries as outlined above. <br />2 <br />
