MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 12, 2011 <br />BANNER <br />POLE <br />DISPLAY <br />BANNERS <br />FIRST <br />BANK <br />DRIVE <br />CHRISTMAS <br />PARTY <br />ON -LINE <br />STORE <br />FOR CITY <br />MERCHANDISE <br />Plumbing site, and was concerned about this type of storage on the <br />Norm's Tires property. He also expressed concern about not having drive - <br />through bays and whether or not there was potential to modify the building <br />provide for the drive - through bays. The Superintendent indicated that <br />these issues would need to be evaluated. <br />After additional discussion, it was the consensus of the Council that staff <br />should do a cursory review of the site to determine whether or not there <br />was potential to utilize the property for a Public Works Garage. Staff will <br />bring a report back to the Council. <br />The City Administrator displayed the current banner designs being used <br />on City banner poles. He noted that the City needs to order additional <br />banners, and asked if there was any interest in additional design options <br />recognizing the Little Canada Recreation Association or Little Canada <br />Fire Department. The Administrator also asked if the Council wanted to <br />offer Little Canada businesses or other City organizations, such as St. <br />John's Church, the option to purchase banners for display in their general <br />vicinity. The Administrator noted that theses banners would have to be <br />ordered soon for display this spring. <br />It was the consensus of the Council that various City organizations be <br />approached and asked if they are interested in banners, at their own cost. <br />The Council also directed additional City banners be ordered as well as <br />Thunder Bay banners. Staff should check with the City of Thunder Bay to <br />ensure that the logo being used is still current. <br />The City Administrator asked if there was any interest in renaming <br />First Bank Drive. After some discussion, it was the consensus of the <br />Council that a contest be held for the renaming of this street. The City <br />Administrator indicated that he would put together a draft article for the <br />Council's review prior to publishing this contest in the newsletter. <br />The City Administrator indicated that given the City's budget situation <br />is healthier, if there was interest in reinstating the Christmas Party. The <br />consensus was to reinstate the party and that past Mayors also added to the <br />standard invitee list. <br />Boss reported on the on -line merchandise store that Frattalone Companies <br />provides through Cityldentity, and suggested that the City consider this <br />as an option for providing City -logo wear. Boss pointed out that the City <br />could make logo -wear available without having to carry inventory and a <br />large variety of sizes.
