SECTION 30 — UNIFORM POLICY <br />General <br />Maintenance employees of the Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments will be <br />provided with the clothing necessary to perform their job in a safe and comfortable manner. <br />Every effort will be made to make sure the appearance of employees is similar, neat, and orderly. <br />The City reserves the right to change the color or style of clothing provided. <br />Pants <br />Full -time employees will be provided an annual allowance for the purchase of work pants. The <br />pants must be blue jeans and must be free of holes or significant fraying. The respective <br />department heads reserve the right to inform employees of inappropriate jeans and request that <br />they not be worn on the job if they are unsatisfactory in appearance. Employees will purchase <br />the jeans as needed and will receive a lump sum payment annually from the City to cover those <br />expenses based on a uniform rate ef$3:90- per-week for pants to be set by the City Council from <br />time to time. The rate will be examined annually and adjusted if necessary to match any <br />fluctuation in the cost of jeans. <br />Shirts <br />Each employee will be provided with logo t- shirts for wearing while at work. Employees also <br />have the choice of wearing ANSI II compliant, reflectorized t- shirts during warm weather months <br />in lieu of a logo t- shirt. Long sleeve t -shirts are also an option. All short sleeve and long sleeve <br />t- shirts will be City - approved colors with a Little Canada logo on the chest. Crew neck and /or <br />hooded sweatshirts will also be provided to employees on an as- needed basis. The sweatshirts <br />will be City - approved colors with a Little Canada logo on the chest. All shirts will be provided <br />at no cost to the employee. Approximately once a year, employees will have the opportunity to <br />replace old, worn t -shirts and sweatshirts with new ones. <br />Winter Gear <br />The City will provide all Public Works and Parks & Recreation employees with two winter <br />jackets; a lighter one and a heavy one for extreme cold. Winter coveralls or bib overalls will also <br />be provided depending on each employee's preference. Winter gloves and stocking hats will also <br />be provided. All winter gear will be provided at no cost to the employee. <br />Footwear <br />The City will provide an allowance of $150 per -year for full -time Public Works and Parks <br />employees to purchase steel -toed footwear. Footwear is to be replaced on an as- needed basis, <br />with the determination of need to be made by the Public Works Superintendent and Parks & <br />Recreation Director. When possible, employees should keep an older, vet functional, pair of <br />safety boots at the shop to be utilized for tasks such as blacktopping. In no case will the per <br />employee reimbursement of $150 occur more often than once peryear. Employees may use this <br />allowance to purchase winter boots only if they are steel -toed. Regular, non -steel -toed winter <br />boots shall be purchased at the employee's expense. <br />60 <br />12 <br />
