Because the applicant's sign request appears to be consistent with the general
regulations for signage for commercial /industrial buildings, staff recommends approval
of the Comprehensive Sign Plan, with the following conditions to make it consistent with
the goals and intent of the PUD zoning:
a. A sign panel design that avoids a lighted white plastic panel background.
Instead, the applicant should "reverse out" lighter text from a dark
background.
b. Sign materials that are an improvement over a simple metal pole,
augmenting the based with masonry material or other similar improvement.
c. Consider landscaping around the base of the sign.
d. Rather than a pylon design, utilize a monument style sign which is less
visually intrusive and utilizes materials consistent with the building.
Pc: Kathy Glanzer
Steve Westerhaus
Lee Elfering
Country Drive Partners, 2905 Country Drive, Little Canada, MN 55117
5
11
