Lee Rossow
1870 Rice Street
St. Paul, MN 55113
(651) 308 -2999
Monday, April 14, 2008
Mayor Bill Blesener
City of Little Canada
Dear Bill Blesener,
1 am writing to urge you to give a positive vote to the additional language suggested by
Steve Grittman Certainly, I will benefit from the additional rental income, but likewise,
the City will also benefit from providing an opportunity to Quality Contracting to expand
its business without leaving the area. As you are aware, there are other businesses in the
City that have similar space issues.
You should know that since Comfort Bus vacated the Ryan Industrial Park in 2005, I
have successfully rented outdoor storage space to Minnesota Asphalt Services, Suburban
Auto body and Collins Electric. I have had an unsuccessful experience renting to Jeff
Jacobson but I finally rectified the problem by using my equipment to move his
equipment. None of the renters caused any problems except for Jeff and that was only to
me.
By requiring any non - accessory use of outdoor storage to secure a license, the City can
control the storage problems preventing them from deteriorating. The yearly license
requirement will avails the City the opportunity to adjust the agreements as need be if
problems arise. This method also leaves the CUPs in tact without the need for continuous
updates.
There are forty plus businesses operating from the Ryan Industrial Park I think we are
all sensitive to the problems created by previous land owners: unfortunately, the
problems created by one individual are affecting our ability to function. I certainly don't
feel that Steve's language will open the flood gates; quite the contrary, f doubt anyone
will notice any change. There simply isn't a lot of property available to lease.
Respectfully,
cc-fee PZedow,
(651) 308 - 2999
16
