Hanson
www. ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council
FROM: Jessica Jagoe, Code Enforcement Officer
DATE: May 23, 2008
RE: Nuisance Abatement — 66 Jessica Court
City staff has received several calls from residents regarding 66 Jessica Ct and the broken
fence along County Road C. The primary concern of the neighboring residents is the in-
ground swimming pool in the rear yard. It is city staff's understanding that this property
is vacant and going through the foreclosure process. At this time, Homecomings
Financial located out of Pennsylvania owns the property.
City staff did immediately install orange temporary fencing to help secure the swimming
pool area. A letter was sent to this financial institution requesting this portion of fencing
be replaced or repaired. Following the first letter being sent, city staff became aware of
someone being injured as a result of the fence overhanging onto the sidewalk along
County Road C. City staff again attempted to secure the situation. Given the potential
life safety concern, staff sent out another notice to the financial institution. In this letter,
city staff is allowing until Tuesday, May 27 to complete the required repair or
replacement of the fence. If the nuisance violation is not corrected by that time, staff will
put a memo in the additions packet requesting approval for staff to proceed with the
abatement process.
1
