Hanson <br />TO: Abatement Contractors <br />FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />DATE: June 8, 2007 <br />RE: Request for Abatement Proposals <br />The City of Little Canada is seeking quotations for asbestos and hazardous materials abatement <br />for three properties we recently acquired. The properties are 85 Viking Drive West (residential <br />property), 91 Viking Drive West (residential property), and 2250 Rice Street (fouuer Oasis gas <br />station and car wash). Legend Technical Services, Inc. has completed an asbestos & regulated <br />material survey of each property (see copies enclosed). <br />We are seeking abatement of the properties prior to demolition (contract awarded to Frattalone <br />Companies, Inc) based upon the following criteria: <br />• Abatement activities shall address all items listed in the enclosed reports prepared by <br />Legend Technical Services, Inc. (The reports are dated May 19, 2007 for 2250 Rice <br />Street and May 24, 2007 for 85 & 91 Viking Drive West.) for the three properties <br />noted above with the exception of the following items: <br />a) The vermiculite containing asbestos located within the perimeter concrete <br />block walls of the car wash bay shall be performed by others. <br />b) The removal and disposal of all items identified in the Regulated Material <br />Survey shall be removed and disposed by the City of Little Canada. <br />• All abatement activities (removal, storage, transportation, and disposal) performed <br />under this project, must be done in conformance with all laws and regulations of the <br />State of Minnesota as well as the United States Environmental Protection Agency. <br />• The contractor awarded this job must provide workers compensation insurance at the <br />mandated statutory limits. The contractor shall also provide comprehensive general <br />liability coverage with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence. The City of <br />Little Canada shall be named as an additional insured and be provided with a <br />certificate of insurance with a minimum of ten (10) days notice of cancellation. <br />• Utilities have already been disconnected to each of theses properties. Temporary <br />power or other utilities are the responsibility of the selected contractor. <br />• The successful contractor shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of <br />Little Canada, its employees, elected officials, agents, and assigns from any act <br />associated with the contractors performance of this work. <br />- 2 - <br />
