Rr V ERA ARCHITECTS INC. DESIGN MATTERS Revise in floor supply register to accommodate new fire wall. Re- install hand rail when work complete. Finish all gypsum board walls to match existing. Attic: Caulk and tape all gaps at existing tire wall. Continue (1) hour fire resistant partition from second floor to the underside of roof deck adjacent to existing fire wall. Provide 5/8" type "X" gypsum board at the underside of the roof sheathing for a distance of 4' -0" on each side of the fire walls. Existing roof vents opening shall be relocated a distance greater than 4' -0" from the fire wall. Pre - engineered wood roof trusses located within 4' -0" of a fire wall shall be enclosed with (1) layer of 5/8" type "X" gypsum board. Fire enclosure of roof trusses shall occur on each side of the fire walls. Exterior walls Existing exterior walls for a distance of 4' -0" on each side of a fire wall shall be revised to achieve a fire resistant rating of (1) hour. Revision shall consist of removing existing vinyl siding, wind barrier and 5/8" OSB sheathing for a distance of 4' -0" on each side of the fire wall, then installing 5/8" type "X" gypsum board, and reapplying wind barrier and vinyl siding. Eaves: Extend fire walls into building eaves. Provide (1) fire wall within existing porch eave. Fire wall construction shall be as defined above. Penetrations: Relocate all through wall penetrations to a distance greater than 4' -0" from a fire wall. Openings: Fill both existing door side lites with (1) hour fire resistant construction. Current side lite openings are within 4' -0" of the fire wall. If you have any questions feel free to call.
