Hanson
www.cilittle-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener, Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: March 22, 2007
RE: City Center Repairs & Updates
Steve Westerhaus, the City's Building Official, has been coordinating estimates for the needed
repairs to City Hall sustained as a result of last January's accident. We have also considered some
potential upgrades to the building given the work that will be done. (Enclosed are the quotes for the
various options from the three contractors.
For the actual repair work, we received three estimates. They are as follows:
Giertsen Contracting
RJ Marco Construction
Lindstrom Construction
$31,254.08
$34,564.24
$37,674.20
Repair work includes the obvious restoration of the damaged areas including rebricking the entire
lower portion of the south wall given that matching brick for a patch will be extremely difficult.
For alternate work, the items considered and pricing (with the notable exception that Giertsen did not
provide any pricing for alternates) are as follows:
RJ Marco Lindstrom
Replace /Lower Windows along South Wall
Same Look $7,800 9,200
New look, lowered windows that people
could see out of 14,500
(See diagrams attached for the examples
of the two looks.)
