RJ Marco Lindstrom
Brick HVAC Screening Wall
The problem with this option is all of $6,950 T & M
the lines that come in to the building here.
After hearing that comment during the
quotation process, I remembered that is why
we reconstructed the wood wall. We have
gas and electric lines that would pose a
challenge for footings. The other option would
be a Nova brick facade (see Biagini's buildings
on Country Drive.) Brick colors are limited
with this option.
Brick Guardrail (for south side stair way vs. metal) 5,800 3,319
Replace Front Entry Door (it is rusting out) 2,500 N/A
Window Blinds for all south side office windows 2,780
Option for horizontal mini blinds 1,000
Ceramic Tile for Front Lobby Area 9,800 10,556.48
Remove Front Entry Sign (including electrical) 625 325
This is the sign by the entry door. Lettering
frequently falls off the board during heavy
winds. It's appearance is also worsening.
Additional Insulation in Office Area 750 750
Another factor to consider involves our ability to award this work via quotations versus competitive
bidding. If we stay under $50,000 in project costs, we can use quotations for this work. This saves
expense in terms of bid documents and contract preparation.
Again, these are reasonable estimates for the work, but could if we make any modifications. I also
believe there are items that we could undertake ourselves if the Council feels the task should be
undertaken. (An example would be removal of the sign by the front entrance.) We may also be able
to modify the quote somewhat by using our Prison Crew for some of the tasks. (This would need to
be discussed with the contractor and we would have to be sure coordination was reasonable.)
Staff would like your direction as to how to proceed in completing this work. Staff can recommend
RJ Marco as the contractor if any additional work is to be undertaken, given Giertsen did not quote
our additional work. Depending on the Council's direction, staff can also negotiate further with RJ
Marco (or any of the contractors for that matter) to see if additional pricing considerations are
possible.
2
