➢ Trail placement would be restricted to a minimum of 50 feet from the current
Maplewood property lines and 35 feet from the Ostertag and Mogren properties;
• The easement language will be such that once the trail is constructed, the
easement will be limited to a width of 30 feet (15 feet on either side of the
centerline of the trail). It is anticipated that the trail will meander through this
property given the meandering wetland edges. Therefore, the blanket easement at
this time with further refinement once the trail is constructed provides the City
with some flexibility when determining trail placement at some time in the future.
➢ The trail would be located in such a way as to minimize the need for bog walks,
thus minimizing the City's construction costs. It should be noted, however, that
there will be a minimum of 200 feet of bog walk needed on the south end. The
City would also work with the Watershed on setback from the edge of the
wetland, noting that while the Watershed would prefer a 37.5 foot buffer, they
have agreed to work with the City to narrow this distance depending on specific
circumstances.
➢ Easement dedication will still require the payment of a cash park charge on each
individual lot developed.
It is the feeling of City staff that the above conditions meet the intent of the Parks &
Recreation Commission's February 15` recommendation. Staff would recommend
approval of the Canadian Woods Park Charge as recommended by City Staff.
