4. Off -site, Temporary Directional Signage. Residential units, including single family, two - <br />family, and /or townhouse units for sale or rent may display off -site, temporary directional signs <br />generally during the period that said units are open for inspection to prospective buyers /renters <br />under the following conditions. Signs which violate any of these provisions, or interfere with the <br />safe use of the public streets or trails by vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, or others may be <br />removed at the discretion of the City: <br />a) Off -site, temporary signs are allowed without special permit when related to providing <br />directions to units that are for sale or rent, and open for inspection. Such signs may displayed <br />Monday through Friday from one -half hour prior to opening, to one -half hour after closing. For <br />weekend "open houses ", such signs may be displayed no earlier than 7.00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 <br />a.m. Monday. <br />b) Signs shall be for the purpose of providing directions only. No more than one (1) sign per <br />unit may displayed at any street intersection, and no signs may displayed between intersections. <br />c) Such signs may be located on the public right -of -way, but shall be no closer than ten (10) <br />feet from the curb, or edge of pavement where no curb exists. <br />d) Such signs shall be freestanding, and shall not be attached to any other structure such as <br />traffic control signs, utility poles, or other similar devices. <br />e) Signs must be located so as to avoid interference with pedestrian or bicycle trails, and to <br />avoid conflicts with traffic circulation and visibility. <br />f) Such signs shall be no larger than four (4) square feet in area, and no more than three (3) <br />feet in height. <br />g) Signs may incorporate directional arrows, real estate company or agent names, and <br />addresses or project names of the subject real estate. No balloons, banners, or other attachments <br />shall be permitted. <br />h. Directional /Information Signs. <br />(1) On- Premise Signs. Shall not be larger than four (4) square feet <br />unless approved by the City Council. The number of said signs shall not exceed four (4) unless <br />approved by the City Council. <br />(2) Off - Premise Signs. Said signs shall be limited to situations <br />where access is questionable and /or confusing and resulting traffic safety may be jeopardized or <br />traffic inappropriately utilizes residential, minor streets. Said sign shall require a conditional use <br />permit as approved by the City Council. The size of the sign shall be determined by the City <br />Council and shall contain no advertising. <br />i. Garage Sale /Estate Sale Signs. Off -site garage sale and estate sale signs <br />are allowed in residential zoning districts. Such signs may be erected one (1) day prior to the sale <br />and must be removed immediately at the end of the sale. Signs up to four (4) square feet per side <br />and no more than four (4) in number are allowed. Said signs shall be maintained in an <br />aesthetically pleasing manner for the duration of display. Such signs shall not be located within <br />
