Park Maintenance Supervisor <br />(651) 766 -4056 <br />MEMORAND UM <br />Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council <br />Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />July 19, 2007 <br />Award Bid for Tennis Court & Basketball Court Reconstruction <br />The condition of the Spooner Park tennis courts and the Pioneer Park tennis courts and <br />basketball courts has deteriorated to the point that replacement is needed. Nine bids were <br />submitted for this work (see attached). The low bid was received from Buck Blacktop in <br />the amount of $39,382 for the Spooner Park courts and $54,332 for the Pioneer Park <br />courts. (Budget amounts were $105,000 and $45,000 respectively, with Pioneer initially <br />considered a "mill and overlay" project.) <br />Bids were also reviewed for resurfacing the courts rather than total replacement. Given <br />slight difference in the cost, the Park Commission and staff are recommending <br />reconstruction. <br />
