Previous permits were granted, essentially allowing construction of another
home on the property in the early 1980s, to accommodate the temporary continuation of
a living unit in the "boathouse" building, along with the construction of a new home.
The use of the "boathouse" structure as a living unit was to terminate upon the death or
departure of the occupant, which has since occurred.
As such, permits to remodel the boathouse structure need to be considered in the
context of its use as an accessory structure, but in a way that does not constitute a
dwelling unit. Steve Westerhaus and I met with the owner to discuss options to
accomplish this result. Parameters to the remodeling include:
5
