1. Hunting on Public versus Private property;
2. I- Iunting site size — County recommends minimum 20 -acre parcel;
3. Potential for strong public opposition to a deer hunt.
In addition to the deer population in the St. John's Cemetery property, one of the areas
with the largest concentration of deer appears to be the Labore Road area in the vicinity
of the Sculley property. Public land is very limited in this area; and Mr. Scully has
indicated in the past that no one would be allowed to hunt on his property. The Twin
Lake Area also has a deer population given nearby St. Paul Water Department property
and Vadnais Heights park property. It would be necessary to obtain property owner
permission to hunt on private property as well as put together sites of at least 20 acres in
size. Should that only be possible with the St. John's Cemetery property, other areas of
need may not be able to be addressed.
