MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 21, 2011 <br />RESCHEDULE <br />JANUARY 11TH <br />COUNCIL <br />MEETING <br />ORGANIZED <br />COLLECTION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Given that Council Member Montour will be unavailable on January 11, 2012, <br />he has requested that the Council change its first meeting in January to Monday, <br />January 9, 2012. <br />Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -12- 251 — RESCHEDULING THE JANUARY 11, <br />2012 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING TO MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2012 <br />AT 7:30 P.M. AND RESCHEDULING THE JANUARY 11, 2012 <br />WORKSHOP RELATIVE TO TAX INCREMENT FINANCING DISTRICTS <br />AND POTENTIAL REDEVELOPMENT TO MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2012 <br />AT 6:00 P.M. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The City Administrator presented the proposed renewal of the City's <br />Organized Collection Contract with Allied Waste, Waste Management, and <br />Gene's Disposal. The Administrator reviewed in detail his report of December <br />16, 2011 outlining the significant contract changes. He noted that this is a five - <br />year contract, tipping fees are increasing, collection rates will decrease, and the <br />fuel surcharge has been rebased from $3.25 per diesel gallon to $4.60 per diesel <br />gallon before the surcharge goes into effect. The City Administrator indicated <br />that he had assistance from Ramsey County in renegotiating this contract, and <br />indicated that the haulers have been very cooperative throughout the process. <br />The Administrator recommended approval of the contract, including the <br />proposed rates, as submitted. <br />Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -12 -252 — APPROVING THE ORGANIZED <br />COLLECTION CONTRACT AND REVISED RATES AS RECOMMENDED <br />BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br />AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY AND AMENDING THE CITY'S FEE SCHEDULE <br />ACCORDINGLY <br />11 <br />
