BOB FLETCHER
RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF
425 Grove St.
St. Paul, MN 551 01 -241 8
Telephone: (651) 266 -9300
Telefacsimile: (651) 266 -9301
Kathy Glanzer
Little Canada City Hall
515 Last Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
Dear Kathy,
October 3"d, 2006
Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry remains in good standing with the Sheriff's Office. Investigators
from our General Investigative Unit have a good working relationship with the current owners
and the business is compliant with the entry of transaction information into the Automated Pawn
System. Our expectation is that we would have the same level of cooperation from any future
owners of Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry.
We do request, though, that Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry install a video camera surveillance
system. With video documentation of pawn transactions as the industry norm, we find that
prosecutors often will not prosecute cases without video evidence of the transfer of stolen
property.
Additionally, pawnshops are high profile targets for robberies and burglaries. Video surveillance
evidence is a very powerful tool in the prosecution of robbery and burglary cases. Because of
the effectiveness of video surveillance as an investigative and as a prosecutorial tool, the
presence of video cameras also provides a significant deterrent against those crimes, as well.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Mike Salter
Operations Lieutenant
Patrol Division
Ramsey County Sheriff's Office
ADULT DETENTION DIVISION (651) 266 -9350 ^ CIVIL PROCESS (651) 266 -9330 > PATROL DIVISION (651) 481-1317 WARRANTS (651) 266 -9320
vzig
