CITY OF LITTLE CANADA ORDINANCE NO. AN INTERIM ORDINANCE EXTENDING A MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR ADVERTISING SIGNS, AS DEFINED IN THE ZONING CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, AND THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR ADVERTISING DEVICES IN ADJACENT AREAS, ADJACENT TO THE RIGHT - OF -WAY OF AN INTERSTATE OR TRUNK HIGHWAY, AS DEFINED IN MINN. STAT. §173.02, WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE CANADA HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: An Interim Ordinance extending a moratorium relating to certain property within the City of Little Canada. (A) Purpose and Intent. The City of Little Canada has adopted a Comprehensive Plan and Official Controls, pursuant to Minn, Stat. § §462.351 to 462.354, and the Little Canada City Council has authorized staff to conduct a study to analyze existing uses, proposed uses, and existing zoning of the property described below within the City of Little Canada, for the purpose of considering amendments to the Comprehensive Plan or Official Controls relating to the property described below. (B) Pursuant to Minn. Stat. § §462.355, subd. 4, this interim ordinance, for the purpose of protecting the planning process and the health, safety, and welfare of Little Canada citizens, hereby prohibits the issuance of permits for advertising signs, as defined in the Zoning Code of the City of Little Canada, and the issuance of permits for advertising devices in adjacent areas, adjacent to the right -of -way of an interstate or trunk highway, as defined in Minn. Stat. § 173.02, within the City of Little Canada. (C) This interim ordinance extends the moratorium created by Ordinance No. 596, which will expire on October 12, 2006.
