September 7, 2006
Mayor Bill Blesener
City Council
Parks and Recreation Commission
City of Little Canada
Dear Mayor, Council, and Commission members:
I am requesting your consideration for an appointment to the Little Canada Parks and
Recreation Commission.
My educational background includes High School at St. Agnes in St Paul, an Associates of
Arts degree from Lakewood Community College in White Bear Lake, MN(now Century
College), and a Bachelor of Science in Business from the Carlson School of Management
University of Minnesota.
I grew up in Shoreview Minnesota but my history with Little Canada spans my whole life. As
a child, I played at my Grandparents home on Condit Street and my Great Grandparents
home and farm on Centerville Road which became part of Pioneer park. I looked forward to
Canadian Days every year where I would attend the festival and watch the parade.
I have officially resided in Little Canada now for 16 years after I moved to the home my
Grandparents built over 50 years ago. I fish and kayak on Gervais lake, attend annual family
reunions at the ball fields and picnic shelter at Pioneer Park, I play tennis at the courts at
Pioneer Park, and Ice skate at the rink behind the Old Fire Hall(or "Fire Barn" as we still call
it).
Now I'd like to take the emotional connection and history I have with the city and take an
active roll to ensure we continue park accusation and development, provide readily available
recreational activities, and work to expand the city's trail system so that future generations
can continue to enjoy the same small comrnunity feeling that I enjoyed here as a child and
continue to utilize and enjoy today.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Sincerely
IAA 22—ftz-k-----
John P.
