MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 28, 2006
repairable. Blesener stated that the City cannot continue this cycle of code
enforcement.
Sedaghat reported that he explained his situation at the Planning
Commission meeting, pointing out that many of the cars are sitting on the
property as the result of other people's work. Sedaghat repotted that
people have tried to repair the vehicles, and for whatever reasons, have
pushed the cars outside and walked away. Sedaghat reported that he has
been unable to hire personnel to fix these cars. Sedaghat reported that he
needs time to find a way to get these vehicles fixed and off the property.
He indicated that he does not like the way his business is. Sedaghat
reported that he has health problems. He asked the Council for six months
to get the property cleaned up and his business in order. He noted his
current efforts to clean up the site.
Blesener noted that one of the pictures shows that Sedaghat merely moved
junk inside the building; he did not remove it from the property. Blesener
stated that the City will not tolerate Sedaghat removing junk and vehicles
from the property and then bringing it all back once the City issues his
licenses.
Sedaghat admitted that he did remove junk and vehicles from the property
and then brought it back. He asked for one more chance; an additional six
months to clean the site up.
Blesener pointed out the City's efforts in trying to work with Mr. Sedaghat
since 1999, as well as the amount of staff time that Mr. Sedaghat has taken
up. Sedaghat apologized and asked that the City work with him. He
indicated that he will sell and get rid of the junk parts on his property. He
will sort through and determine what can be sold and what should be
gotten rid of.
LaValte asked the status of the citations that Mr. Sedaghat has been
issued. The City Attorney reported that an arraignment was scheduled for
June 21, which Mr. Sedaghat requested be postponed. The arraignment
was rescheduled to today, but Mr. Sedaghat called the court to report that
he was ill and unable to make an appearance. Sedaghat again noted his
health status and reported that he sent the court a letter from his doctor.
Blesener asked how Sedaghat intended to bring the property into
compliance over the next six months. Sedaghat reported that he will not
purchase any additional vehicles. He indicated that he will take the
situation seriously and noted that he cannot continue to live the way he has
the past few years.
13
