also questioned where the stormwater was going to go. They commented that
they would like to see the water flow south. Mr. Elfering responded by saying he
would look into it when he designs the improvement.
➢ A resident asked how the pond in front of Oakmont Condominiums would be
used for storm drainage and added that they would like to see more water in the
pond. Mr. Elfering stated that he would look into it further when he designs the
project.
➢ Mr. Elfering then gave a brief explanation of rain gardens and where examples
are in the City if residents were interested in looking at them.
➢ A question was asked regarding how long another overlay would last and
whether or not it would cost less. Mr. Elfering answered that an overlay would
last about 10 -12 years at best. He stated that the cost would be less but not
significantly less while adding that overlays do not allow for drainage
corrections.
➢ It was asked if Canabury Dr. would be reconstructed at the same time. Mr.
Elfering responded that Canabury was scheduled to be reconstructed in 2007,
and, if approved, he would make sure that the contractor didn't have too much
going on at one time.
➢ It was asked if it was possible to grade the hills on Viking Dr. so they were closer
to level. Mr. Elfering answered that the existing driveways and grades on either
side of the road confine the project. Because of that reason there is very little that
can be done to level the grades
It was the consensus of those present that this project should proceed.
The City Administrator reported that the next step would be to bring the results of the
neighborhood meeting to the City Council to call for an improvement hearing.
The Viking Drive property owners were thanked for their participation.
