could assess an even higher number to the Nature Way homes but staff chose a <br />different method to assess the development. <br />➢ It was asked if the price of the project would go down if there were no curb from <br />Nature Way to County Road B2. Mr. Elfering responded that the cost would stay <br />virtually the same since the project reaches the assessment cap without the curb. <br />➢ A question was asked regarding when Viking Dr. last received significant work. <br />The City Administrator replied that it was his recollection that Viking received a <br />1.25" overlay around 1994. MNDOT turned the road back to the City and the <br />City insisted that the State reconstruct it before we accepted it. The State <br />disagreed and, eventually, both parties agreed to overlay the surface. <br />➢ It was asked if there were any plans for a trail or sidewalk as part of the <br />improvements. Mr. Elfering answered that a sidewalk was not in the plans <br />currently but he would look into it if there was enough interest. The City <br />Administrator added that the City likes to maintain on- street trails on its wider <br />roads. <br />➢ A comment was made that a lot of people walk in that area and there is going to <br />be an accident sooner or later. It was also stated that the lighting is poor along <br />Viking Dr. The City Administrator responded by saying the City would look into <br />the possibilities of an off - street trail for Viking Dr. <br />➢ A comment was made that cars traveling eastbound on Viking drive very fast at <br />the west end of Viking near the hills and curves and it makes for a very <br />dangerous situation. The City Administrator stated that staff would contact the <br />Sheriff's Dept. and have them patrol the area and put up a speed board. <br />➢ It was asked what would become of the driveway that tuns north from Aero <br />Drapery to Mautz Paint and exits on Minnesota. Mr. Elfering responded that was <br />on private property and would not be impacted by the project. <br />➢ At this point a poll was taken of those present regarding whether or not they <br />would like to see the project move forward. Eight residents supported the project <br />and no hands were raised against the project. <br />➢ Two members of St. Jude then spoke of their objection to the project. They <br />commented that from their perspective they didn't feel it would benefit their <br />property enough to warrant reconstruction since the majority of their traffic <br />enters the complex off of County Road B2. They were assessed for the B2 <br />project two years ago and thought it was too soon to be assessed again. They <br />
