Division 9 - Rooming Houses <br />Sec. 13 -136. Compliance. <br />No person shall operate a rooming house or shall occupy or let to another for occupancy a rooming unit in <br />a rooming house except in compliance with the provisions of this Division. (Code 1966; Ord. No. 301, 6- <br />13-72; Code of 1988; Code of 2001) <br />Sec. 13 -137. Water Closet, Hand Lavatory, and Bath Facilities. <br />(1) At least one water closet, lavatory basin, and bathtub or shower shall be supplied for each four rooms <br />within a rooming house wherever these facilities are shared. <br />(2) The facilities shall be properly connected to an approved water and sewer system and shall be <br />maintained in good working condition. <br />(3) Every lavatory basin and bathtub or shower shall be supplied with hot and cold water at all times. <br />(4) All shared facilities shall be located within the residence building being served and shall be directly <br />accessible by all persons sharing the facilities from a common hallway or passageway. Bathroom Enclosures. <br />Every water closet, flush urinal, lavatory basin, and bathtub or shower required by Section 13 -137 shall <br />be located within the rooming house in a room or area that: <br />(1) Affords privacy and is separate from the habitable rooms. <br />(2) Is accessible from a common hall without going outside the rooming house. Minimum Floor Area for Sleeping Purposes. <br />Every room occupied for sleeping purposes by one person shall contain at least seventy square feet of <br />floor area. Every room occupied for sleeping purposes by two or more persons shall contain at least fifty <br />square feet of floor area for each occupant. (Code 1966; Ord. Bed Linens and Towels. <br />The operator of a rooming house shall change the supplied bed linens and towels at least once a week and <br />prior to the letting of any room to another occupant. The operator shall be responsible for the maintenance <br />of all supplied bedding in a clean and sanitary manner. (Code 1966; Ord.
