- 2—
I have been Neighborhood Block Captain for quite some time. The Sheriff's
Department has provided us with materials that they want distributed to our
neighborhoods, which I have done. I do not pay the cost of postage to mail the
information. I do not have the time to hand deliver the information to their door.
I know that I am not suppose to put anything in the mailboxes with out postage so I
do hand deliver all material from the Sheriff and will put it in newspaper boxes but
a lot of people do not have newspaper boxes. In that case, I will attach the material
to the mailbox on the outside with a rubber band. I have provided addressed
envelopes for them to reply back to me as we have been asked to get the names,
addresses and phone #'s of everyone for an automated system to enable the Sheriffs
and Fire Department to locate people in emergencies where time is of the essence. I
have had neighborhood meetings and they have been invited but have never
attended.
Matt currently does not even have a street number that is visible out on the street.
His home sits back quite a distance off the street. He doesn't have house numbers
on his mailbox either.
I didn't even know his full name or address until your notice came. He, along with
many other neighbors in that area have very poor mail boxes. I am surprise the
mailman even delivers their mail. (That should be up to the Postal Service to
demand better mail boxes and proper numbers on them but I think the City of
Little Canada should demand good, large visible house numbers for all concerned
on every house.
Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion via this letter. I am unable to attend
the hearing. Thank you keeping us informed. I do no mean to be a complaining
neighbor— just a concerned neighbor.
Sincerely,
-:1 J
Janis Hess
