CITY OF LITTLE CANADA PROPOSED WEB SITE ENHANCEMENTS 1. Banner Enhancements: Redesign banner incorporating a photo and city logo that we would give you similar to www.townofchapelhill.org. We'd like the search engine to appear within the banner or above the vertical navigation similar to www.co.ramsey.mn.us. 2. Color Enhancements: We'd like to retain the colors presently used within the site. However, we'd like to have more color in the background similar to www.co.ramsey.mn.us. The main content area can remain white, but we'd like color added to the other areas. 3. Navigation Enhancements: a. Add horizontal navigation...we'd like to feature both vertical and horizontal similar to www.ci.plymouth.mi.us, www.co.ramsey.mn.us, and www.ci.woodbury.mn.us. b. Add drop down lists on the vertical navigation bar that appear when the user places their mouse over the buttons (before they actually click on anything). I'd like the list of items appearing to be underlined or highlighted when the mouse is over them so they appear easier. c. Add a "short cuts" drop down list that will appear on the right -hand side on the homepage (see www.ci.woodbury.mn.us for an example). d. We'd like the items appearing in the vertical navigation to be separated somehow using a button or lines or some other means (see www.co.ramsey.mn.us). We'd like the text on the buttons to wrap. Right now, the text runs off the button if the text is too long to fit on the button. 4. Sidebars Enhancements: Add sidebars on left hand side under vertical navigation. Currently, we can only add them on the right side. 5. Default Changes: a. Change the default of the uploaded documents so that the most recently uploaded document appears at the top of the list. (Change requested by Council Member Keis.) b. Change default so that all documents that are uploaded show the "Link Targeting" as "New — open document in new window" first. I find that I'm using the new more than the inline choice. It would save a couple of clicks if I could just have the "new" showing first. c. Could we show the current year at the top of the years drop down lists used throughout the site? Currently, 2000 is at the top and then I have to find 2006. 6. Other: We'd be open to hearing any other suggestions you may have to improve our web site.
