MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 28, 2026
Miller stated that he will be attending the Cable Commission meeting the following night and will also
participate in the webinar mentioned by Kwapick. He stated that he will also be participating in the
elected official training next week, offered by the League of Minnesota Cities. He recognized that
there were powerful public comments tonight and acknowledged that there is real fear in the
community. He noted that the Council continues to have discussions on what could be done within
that role and stated that he will also pursue ways that he can help personally, such as volunteering with
the school district or delivering food in the community.
The Assistant City Administrator stated that the city has an immigration support page on its website
that has been active for the past several weeks and includes opportunities for community support.
Mayor Fischer recognized that if students are not attending school, they would not receive the meals
they would normally receive and asked if the schools are also connected to the food resources.
The Assistant City Administrator commented that it appears the Roseville district is doing something
internally and stated that in previous contact with the social worker at Little Canada, that district also
has access to the food resources shared by the city.
Mayor Fischer asked if the city could include information on how interested residents could help on
the immigration support page. He noted that he would also be interested in volunteering.
Kwapick stated that he received an email about a food and personal products drive open through
Friday, hosted by the school district.
Mayor Fischer provided additional information on the other recent events he attended, including
Coffee with a Cop, the city outreach event, and a Zoom session with Congresswoman Betty
McCollum. He stated that he looks forward to the Metro Cities Board meeting the following day, as he
believes there will be updates as to what has been occurring over the past few days.
ADJOURN
There being no further business, upon motion by Miller, seconded by Kwapick, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:26 p.m.
Thomas Fischer, Mayor
Attest:
el eller, City Clerk
7
