Staff seeks general direction from the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission and City Council on: <br />Community building concepts and function <br />Consider recommendations made by the Technical Advisory Committee <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Community Building Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has been busy in 2025, meeting <br />on many occasions. The TAC has discussed function/use, reviewed concepts, met with industry <br />professionals and toured nearby community buildings. <br />The TAC will give a presentation on their findings and recommendations. General discussion will <br />follow and be focused around the following recommendations from the TAC: <br />Build a Community Building <br />After analyzing the current Little Canada parks and recreation system, considering future <br />infrastructure and reviewing feedback received from engagment efforts, the TAC recommends <br />building a community building. In support of the recommendations to build a community building, <br />the TAC also recommends: <br />Contracting Professional Design Services <br />o Design a building that fits within our system and community needs <br />Design a multi-use facility that can be used year-round <br />o Provide private rental space for 100-150 persons <br />o Include space that can be used for special events to bring the community together <br />o Include space dedicated to youth and adult recreation programming <br />o Provide office space for 2 full-time employees <br />o Provide ample parking for the building and existing user needs <br />Utilize preliminary work of the TAC to better understand community direction for the <br />community building project <br />o The TAC is a large committee that represents the community as a whole.
