5. Detached Decks, Patios, and Walkways <br />Uncovered decks, patios, or similar paved features not exceeding twenty -four (24) inches in <br />height shall meet the same setback requirements as driveway features in the applicable zoning <br />district, except that walkways providing pedestrian access to a public sidewalk or building <br />entrance may extend to the property line. Such features shall not be used for the storage or <br />parking of vehicles, shall not extend into a public street right -of-way, and shall not obstruct <br />drainage or violate clear -vision requirements under Section 915.030. These features may count <br />toward applicable impervious -surface limits. Decks or patios exceeding twenty -four (24) inches <br />in height are regulated as detached accessory buildings. <br />6. Small Incidental Accessory Structures <br />Small incidental accessory structures, such as playhouses, chicken coops, potting sheds, dog <br />houses, and similar enclosures, not exceeding fifty (50) square feet in area or eight (8) feet in <br />height, may be located in the side or rear yard. A maximum of fiv e (5) such structures are <br />permitted per lot. These structures do not count toward accessory building limits but must comply <br />with all setbacks for accessory buildings, except that Little Free Libraries or similar neighborhood <br />media exchanges may be located in the front or corner side yard but not within a public street <br />right-of-way. <br />D. Accessory Buildings and Structures in Non -Residential Districts <br />1. Attached Accessory Buildings and Structures <br />Accessory buildings and structures attached to the principal building are considered part of the <br />principal structure for all regulatory purposes and are subject to the same use, dimensional, and <br />design standards as the principal structure. <br />2. Detached Accessory Buildings <br />a. Detached accessory buildings shall meet the standards of the applicable zoning district in <br />Chapters 904 through 907. <br /> <br />3. Attached Decks, Patios, and Outdoor Areas <br />Decks, patios, and other outdoor seating or gathering areas that are structurally or functionally <br />attached to the principal building are considered part of the principal structure and are subject to <br />the same use, dimensional, and design standards as the pr incipal building. <br />4. Detached Decks, Patios, and Walkways <br />a. Walkways providing pedestrian access between building entrances, parking areas, or public <br />sidewalks are permitted in any yard and are exempt from setback requirements. Walkways <br />shall be intended solely for pedestrian use and shall not be used or designed f or vehicle <br />parking or storage. <br />b. Detached patios not exceeding twenty -four (24) inches in height are permitted as accessory <br />structures and shall meet the same setback requirements as driveway features in the applicable <br />zoning district. <br />c. All other detached accessory structures are regulated as detached accessory buildings and <br />shall comply with all applicable dimensional and design standards of this section and <br />Chapters 905 through 907. <br /> <br />5. Small Incidental Accessory Structures <br />Small incidental accessory structures not exceeding fifty (50) square feet in area or eight (8) feet <br />in height may be permitted as accessory uses to commercial, institutional, or public facilities <br />when clearly subordinate and related to the principal use. Examples include playground <br />equipment, kiosks, outdoor book exchanges, donation boxes, or small utility enclosures. A <br />maximum of three (3) such structures are permitted per lot. Such structures shall: <br />a. Comply with all applicable setbacks for detached accessory buildings, except that Little Free <br />Libraries or similar neighborhood media exchanges may be located in the front or corner side <br />yard but not within a public street right -of-way. <br />b. Not obstruct required parking, drive aisles, or pedestrian circulation. <br />c. Be subject to administrative review by the Zoning Administrator to verify scale and <br />compatibility. <br />E. Conditional Use Permits for Accessory Buildings and Structures
