currently an HR Program Specialist with a background in Parks and Recreation, including <br />various roles with Ramsey County Parks & Recreation and the Minneapolis Park Board. She has <br />a background in biology and environmental science and has a deep passion for community <br />service and volunteerism. She is looking forward to exploring initiatives that involve local <br />community members and organizations in park maintenance and stewardship. <br />Please also note that City Code Chapter 2501, Parks and Recreation Commission, requires the <br />Mayor to recommend a candidate for the Parks Commission Chair. Mayor Fischer will present <br />that recommendation at Wednesday’s meeting, with the Council making the final appointment. <br />The Commission will select its Vice Chair at its first meeting in 2026. <br />Strategic Priority: <br />No strategic priority, operational action item <br />Source Of Funds: <br />No financial impacts at this time. Commissioners are paid per meeting based on attendance, <br />which has already been budgeted as part of the 2026 budget process. <br />Interview Committee Recommendation: <br />The interview committee recommends that Kate Williams be reappointed to a three-year term <br />(2026-2028) and that Lizzie Gelderman be appointed to a three-year term (2026-2028). <br />Appreciation for Outgoing Chair and Commissioner: <br />The city would like to thank Chair Ron Horwath for his many years of service on the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission, both as a Commissioner and as Chair. <br />Recommendation: <br />The interview committee recommends a motion to appoint Kate Williams and Lizzie Gelderman <br />to a three-year term from 2026-2028. <br />The interview committee also recommends a motion to appoint a Park and Recreation <br />Commission Chair in 2026. <br />Attachments: <br />None
