48 <br /> <br />City of Little Canada Personnel Policy <br />any cost over $250 should they choose a more expensive phone. Any replacement or upgrade devices <br />must follow the current terms of the contract provided by the City of Little Canada. <br /> <br />The City will furnish each City-provided phone user with an approved charger, protective cover, belt <br />clip, and/or face protector at no cost to the employee. Each individual phone user will pay for any <br />additional accessories. <br /> <br />Employees who choose to use a personal phone for City-related business and receive reimbursement <br />are responsible for all costs associated with the cellular telephone plan they choose. For example, lost <br />or stolen phones, phones that break or quit working, plan penalties, replacement phones, activation <br />fees, excess charges, text messaging, data tethering, insurance, etc. are all the sole responsibility of the <br />employee. <br /> <br />Care and Use <br /> <br />Employees in possession of a City-issued cell phone are required to care for the phone in a responsible <br />manner, and to take appropriate precautions to prevent theft, damage, and vandalism. <br /> <br />Employees shall not engage in text messaging or any other phone operations that impair driving while <br />operating a vehicle or any equipment at any time, including non-working hours and shall also follow <br />Minnesota State Law regarding cell phone use in a vehicle or equipment. <br /> <br />Security <br /> <br />Security is of particular importance with smartphone technology, as each device is a point of access to <br />the City. Employees whose phones are synced to the City’s network are required to be passcode <br />protected and employees must immediately report the loss of their phone, whether it is a City-issued <br />phone or personal phone. The City retains the right to have the cell phone service for City-owned <br />phones disconnected at any time.
