77 <br /> <br />City of Little Canada Personnel Policy <br />SECTION 33 – UNIFORM POLICY <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />Maintenance employees of the Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments and inspectors in <br />the Community Development Department will be provided with the clothing necessary to perform <br />their job in a safe and comfortable manner. Every effort will be made to make sure the appearance of <br />employees is similar, neat, and orderly. The City reserves the right to change the color or style of <br />clothing provided. <br /> <br />Pants <br />Full-time Public Works and Parks & Recreation Department employees will be provided an annual <br />allowance of up to $200 for the purchase of work pants. Pants worn at work must be blue jeans or <br />other approved work pants and must be free of holes or significant fraying. The respective department <br />heads reserve the right to inform employees of inappropriate jeans and request that they not be worn on <br />the job if they are unsatisfactory in appearance. Employees will purchase the jeans as needed and will <br />receive reimbursement subject to the employee providing a receipt for the purchase. <br /> <br />Shirts <br />Each employee will be provided with logo shirts for wearing while at work. Employees also have the <br />choice of wearing ANSI II compliant, reflectorized t-shirts during warm weather months in lieu of a <br />logo t-shirt. Long sleeve shirts are also an option. All short sleeve and long sleeve shirts will be city- <br />approved colors with a Little Canada logo on the chest. Crew neck and/or hooded sweatshirts will also <br />be provided to employees on an as-needed basis. The sweatshirts will be city-approved colors with a <br />Little Canada logo on the chest. All shirts will be provided at no cost to the employee. Approximately <br />once a year, employees will have the opportunity to replace old, worn t-shirts and sweatshirts with new <br />ones. <br /> <br />Winter Gear <br />The City will provide all Public Works and Parks & Recreation employees with two winter jackets; a <br />lighter one and a heavy one for extreme cold. Winter coveralls or bib overalls will also be provided <br />depending on each employee’s preference. Winter gloves and stocking hats will also be provided. All <br />winter gear will be provided at no cost to the employee. <br /> <br />The city will provide inspectors in the Community Development Department with up to two winter <br />jackets: a lighter one and heavy one for extreme cold. <br /> <br />Footwear <br />The City will provide an allowance of up to $200 for inspectors in the Community Development <br />Department to purchase safety-toed and/or puncture resistant sole footwear, and full-time Public <br />Works and Parks employees to purchase safety-toed footwear. Footwear is to be replaced on an as- <br />needed basis, with the determination of need to be made by the employee’s department head, the <br />Public Works Director or Community Development Director. When possible, employees should keep <br />an older, yet functional, pair of safety boots at the shop to be utilized for tasks such as blacktopping. <br />In no case will the per employee reimbursement of up to $200 occur more often than once per year. <br />Employees may use this allowance to purchase winter boots only if they are safety-toed (Public <br />Works) and/or puncture resistant (Community Development). Regular, non-safety-toed/ puncture <br />resistant sole winter boots shall be purchased at the employee’s expense. <br />
