Savage Lake Level Letter — page 2
December 28, 2004
The District Board of Managers asked that I talk to the DNR about another less expensive
option. After some discussion, the DNR has agreed to give us the permission to raise the
water level by 1 foot, if the District collects a signed agreement from each lakeshore
property owner agreeing to the change in lake level.
Attached to this letter is a Letter of Agreement form. This form needs to be completed
and signed by the owner(s) of the property and returned in the enclosed envelope. I need
to receive this form from every lakeshore property owner in order to proceed. Once we
receive all the forms, the District will submit a permit request to the DNR. Once
approved, the District will modify the outlet to raise the normal level of the lake.
This outlet will not be adjustable. If we have a drought period, the lake will drop in
elevation below the outlet level. If we get a large storm, the lake will bounce up in
elevation until the water can exit through the outlet. We have checked the flood elevation
for the lake and found that all homes are above the 100 year floodplain of the lake when
assuming the new higher lake level.
The attached form does not constitute any loss of property rights and does not involve
granting any easement to the District. Signing the form only provides your approval to
raising the lake level through modification of the lake outlet. If you have any questions
about the process, the form or the new lake level, please call me at the number on the
letterhead or email me at cliff @rwmwd.org. Thank you for your cooperation and
patience in resolving this issue.
Sincerely,
Clifton J.
