Hanson
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council & Planning Commission
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: February 4, 2005
RE: Call for Joint Council /Planning Commission Workshop to Review
Sherman Associates Redevelopment
Based on the discussion at our goal setting session. staff is recommending we hold ajoint
Council /Planning Commission workshop with George Sherman to discuss our desires and his
progress with the Rice Street and Little Canada Road Redevelopment Area. As you know,
this area is under development contract with Sherman Associates. They recently approached
us about an auto parts store as a purchaser of one of the redevelopment sites on the former
Delonais property. Other discussion followed regarding pedestrian friendly shops, a quality
restaurant, and architectural appearance. To ensure we are all on the same page and in
compliance with the terms of our development contract with Sherman Associates, a workshop
should be held to review Mr. Sherman's objectives and development possibilities.
Staff is recommending we hold this workshop at 6:00 p.m. on February 23, 2005. I would
also recommend that the City Planner be in attendance at this meeting as well.
